  7. The Teachings of Ramana Maharshicc(download pdf)

An sixty-five page interview about the teachings of Ramana Maharshi covering all the important issues connected to the search for enlightenment. The recent posthumous popularity of Ramana, indeed his extreme fame, has created a need to separate myth from reality. This interview elucidates Ramana's relationship to the great Vedantic tradition in which his enlightenment occurred. It discusses the relative value of words and silence as a means of enlightenment, makes a clear distinction between Yoga and Vedanta, and informs the reader why enlightenment is not a special 'state' attained through transcendental methods. It also debunks the myth that no preparations and qualifications are necessary for enlightenment. Included is an in depth analysis of Ramana's 'death' experience which reveals the difference between Self realization and enlightenment.

For the intermediate or advanced seeker. A respectful but no-nonsense view of Ramana and Self realization.

8. Tattva Bodhacc(download pdf)

Tattva Bodha means 'knowledge of Truth.' It was written in Sanskrit in the
Eighth Century by Adi Shankaracharya. After explaining the qualifications necessary to realize the Self it deals with the relationship between the individual, the world and the Self. It explains the technical terms that form the basis of Vedanta. Without understanding the meaning of these words the means of knowledge will not operate.

Vedanta is the path that begins where other paths end. So, although Tattva Bodh is an introductory text it is requires a mature discriminting mind. It is particularly useful for someone whose sampling of many paths has produced confusion about enlightenment, the nature of the Self and the method of Self realization.
