In the center of a totally disorganized room that seems to have suffered the effects of a hurricane is a disembodied featureless hairless ageless living head.  As a companion and I watch an indentation appears in the ‘third eye’ spot in which a hellgramite is resting.  The hellgramite and the spot miraculously separate from the head and become a delicious food floating in space which slowly lowers itself into the head's waiting mouth.  The mouth enjoys the food very much. 

I’m in a very difficult situation.  I have just left my girlfriend and she is not happy with me.  I’m staying with an old friend who is cheating on his wife and I have refused to support him.  So he is very angry with me.   I would prefer not to be in this situation and could easily change it, but I feel that it is right for me to see it through to the end.  This commitment gives me peace and strength. 

 

 

COMMENTS

 

The dream is saying that when one’s life is in turmoil you must look to the wisdom that lives in the center of your being. What is that wisdom?  That I am whole and complete, that nothing can be added to me or taken from me, that I am indestructible. The head is featureless just as the Self, the source of the wisdom, is featureless.  Its lack of hair means that the Self is not a human being.  Humans are animals and subject to many of the limitations of animals.   The inner Self is detached from the body and the world so the dream disembodies the head.  This head lives without the support of a body just as the Self lives without the support of anything.   And just as the head is in the center of the room the Self is the center, the heart and soul, of one's life. 

 

A hellgamite, one stage in the cycle of the stone fly, is a small prehistoric creature that lives underwater in rivers around the world.  It is much sought after by fish.  It is sitting in the ‘third eye’ spot. The ‘third eye’ means the eye of wisdom.  Humans see with two eyes but they also have the potential to see with the ‘third eye,’ i.e. to gain Self knowledge.  The helgamite is the seed of self knowledge that is ingested and disgested and enables me to pass through this uncomfortable situation with panache.    

 

The sheer beauty of it dreams like this make dreamwork very rewarding.
