Homosexuals are fine, queers
aren’t
This opinion is sure to anger both
moralistic heterosexuals and committed queers. But I think I can make a reasonable case
for this view.
What is a homosexual? A homosexual is a normal human being who
relates to the world as a normal human being but who derives sexual pleasure
from rubbing same sex flesh.
A gay or queer is someone who not
only derives sexual pleasure from rubbing same sex flesh,
he or she has chosen a sexual identity as his or her primary identity. Sexual behavior is not a matter of
public interest since it occurs in private…but one’s identity
impacts on everyone else.
One cannot really say that there is
such a thing as a ‘heterosexual’ identity because it is the
default. But if someone develops a
special ‘heterosexual’ identity then this opinion also applies.
What is wrong with a sexual
identity, hetero or homo? It is a
limited identity. What is wrong
with a limited identity? First, it
causes spiritual conflict because it is in conflict with our true
nature…which is limitless.
And second, it creates divisions in society. Society does not need more divisiveness. Our default identity is human. When I see myself first as a human being
I immediately have a bridge to everyone.
When I think I’m special and unique…when I identify with a
role, some particular activities or beliefs…I separate myself from others
and make communication difficult.
