Intellectual Spirituality Anyone?

Postby Wayne » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:43 pm

There is a large movement within the spiritual world that promotes either 'heart-centered' or 'you are thinking too much' philosophy.

I can't help but wonder why God gave us a mind, if we were not meant to be using it.

What are your views on intellectual spirituality? Indeed, is Vedanta even spiritual?

Warmest wishes

So how do I live my life? ‘Be’ the absolute reality and enjoy the appearing-reality. Simple.

I guess its just confusion. It seems a lot of people think that you know stuff after you feel it. Whereas I think its the other way round. You need to know something first before you feel it.
I know James says it a lot. That self knowledge will change how you feel but how you feel but a feeling is unlikely to give you knowledge.

Yes, as always it is the famous middle way that is not only the most diplomatic way of approaching the issue but also the most practical advice.
It also makes the most sense: what good is the intellectual understanding without love? And what good is love if we don't understand it?
