Giving thanks

Postby Mira » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:04 am

It's Thanksgiving day today in the US.

I thought I would use this opportunity to give thanks for Vedanta, the sampradaya, Ramji and all the wonderful teachers at SW and for the growing SW forum family.
How fortunate we are to have the gift of Vedanta. It's the ultimate prasad!

Edited to add: I wonder, is there a way that we can give back to Vedanta or the sampradaya? Any suggestions?

Hi Mira,

Hope you are having a happy thanksgiving.

I would like to second the appreciation for all the great work done by everyone at SW. Seeing Swami Dayananda online was my first contact with vedanta but it was watching/reading/corresponding with James that helped to realize that this was what I was looking for, especially the knowledge that 'enlightenment'was not an experience. A lot fell into place for me off of that one little tidbit.

As for giving back, a really obvious, immediate approach would be donations to keep the lights on and the wheels turning. Secondly, seeing if there are volunteer opportunities to aid SW, like transcription projects. Helping people on the forum is a great way too as well as directing curious people to SW resources. I think I got at least 3 people I know to buy James' first book. Whether they read it or not is another matter...lol..but a sale is a sale and that helps to fund more writing.

Perhaps people could set up study groups? Gita study course would be very suitable for that. Anyway, just a few ideas to get the ball rolling :)
