Is Worship the Same as Love?
John: Many thanks for your reply. Non-duality for me answers many, many questions. I have been involved with the Christian church in the past, and fell out of favour with it because of what I now know, namely its dualistic nature. To cut a long story short, I wanted to get away from God.
So I am coming to terms with many things. For instance, can you substitute worship for love, devotion and respect?
I still have a few things to think about, but getting there.
Sundari: Hello, John. You are most welcome. It is understandable that an inquirer or knowledge-seeker coming from a Christian indoctrination would be averse to its idea of God.
Yes, you can substitute worship for love, devotion and respect, that is the whole point of the teaching on bhakti. Love is just consciousness directed towards an object, and as self-knowledge, or non duality (same thing), reveals that all objects are made up of you, consciousness, arise in you and depend on you—but you are always free of the objects – you see everything as you. So what is there not to worship if everything is you?
We are busy with a campout seminar at the moment, and internet is a bit tricky. As soon as I can I will send you a document on all the different types of love.
