Let the Teachings of Vedanta Be Your Saint, It Will Make You the Guru of You
Seeker: Am I wrong in thinking that at some time in the past, before the universe manifested, there only existed Pure Divine Bliss? And now we find ourselves here on earth in the year 2015 drowning in our fear and pain (okay, some pleasures too)? We’re told we’re here due to our karma. But how did our karma start? Is all this God’s dream or play?
Daniel: It’s too much of a detailed topic to try cover in a Facebook conversation. But simply summed up: in actuality, there is no past or future for awareness (who you really are). You, awareness = timeless. You are and will always be “pure divine bliss” because you are a partless whole. What you are referring to in your question is the manifestation or projection of the apparent reality known as mithya. We call this maya, a power that exists in you (awareness). Here is a nice link that explores this topic.
Seeker: Thanks, you’re so patient and kind. Just another little question. Are there any great saints living today, such as Ramana Maharshi? How about Ramakant Maharaj in Nasik, who is a direct disciple of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj?
~ Peace and love
Daniel: There will always be great saints and mahatmas walking around. I don’t know Ramakant Maharaj. What’s important to know is that you don’t need to be a saint or to be around a saint to attain liberation/moksa. Let the teachings of Vedanta be your saint, it will make you the guru of you.
~ Much love, Daniel.
