The Eagle Picture
Ricky: Although I am not liking everything you are writing, I see everything, I love all of it and am so grateful.
Daniel: Vedanta cuts through all the bullshit of false notions, which of course agitates the ego because the ego itself is a false notion!
Ricky: This, with the eagle picture, is very helpful.
Daniel: I love your metaphor, “the eagle picture.” Vedanta offers exactly that, a complete view that encompasses everything. This is why we refer to Vedanta as the knowledge that encompasses all other knowledge.
This “eagle view” reveals the relationship between awareness (you) and Isvara, and how the jiva fits into the total field.
Understanding this view allows for Vedic discrimination (viveka), the ability to avoid confusing the ever-changing apparent reality (mithya) with you, unchanging awareness (satya). Firm discrimination is freedom/enlightenment.
Ricky: I know what I am, but as jiva I’ve got to straighten up. It takes time, I think, because the conditioning is strong. I accept this because I cannot manage to be any different than I currently am functioning.
Daniel: Yes, ignorance is hardwired and takes time to chip away. From your responses, it’s clear that your inquiry is clearly fruiting. Good for you, Ricky. You are on the Vedanta bus, so you can totally relax, knowing that the job will get done. Gently continue to apply the teachings and have fun.
Ricky: Thank you for being so clear and precise. Love and light to you. Have a great day.
Daniel: I very much enjoyed this email from you. All my love to you.
