Osho and Vedanta
Marcelo: I have read some articles from you about Osho at Ramji’s beautiful website. I have been associated with Osho since 2008, mainly doing the active meditations and listening to his audio discourses with joy! You have been 10 years with him and you were grateful for that, as I read it. But some critical points about him begin disturbing me.
Nagar: Hello, Marcelo. Good to hear from you. About thirty-five years ago Osho used to be as important to me as it may seem to be to you today. There is no need to “drop” Osho or to cut him off. Just go the natural way (as he used to say). Keep exposing your mind to Vedanta for as long as you feel attracted to its brilliant body of knowledge. If you naturally happen to stay with it, your spiritual development will greatly accelerate.
Osho’s teachings serves as initial preparation for more advanced teachings. Vedanta is the top of the line, the most advanced – and there is no real contradiction between Osho’s talks and Vedanta. Osho represents the initial steps and Vedanta the very last. Both are equally important.
Marcelo: I came in contact with Osho through Swami Rajneesh two years ago. Later on I found out that he was totally fake and showed strong signs of a cult leader. He has a new ashram in Mexico, in Playa del Carmen. I have been there also for almost two years. You mentioned that one always gets the guru one deserves. Anyhow, luckily I got pulled out! It was a big shock and took me some time to digest it, lost all of my friends, girlfriend and a lot of money. But I’m very grateful that I got out of it.
