Experiential Bliss versus Knowledge Bliss
Finder: What is the difference between the bliss sheath and brahmananda? Vidyaranya says non-duality is bliss. The bliss which is not an object: is this me, the Self?
Daniel: Self-knowledge is bliss. The knowledge that I, full awareness, am always free is bliss. Bliss is freedom from limitation – freedom from dependence on any object. An object includes the experiencing entity and any experiences of bliss that it may have.
Experiential bliss is cool, but not as cool as the bliss of self-knowledge. This is because “knowledge bliss” is not a state and is not subject to change. It’s not subject to change because you, awareness, do not change.
Real bliss arrives with the understanding that this is a non-dual reality and that “I am this one reality.”
For years I have happily and diligently responded to communications on the topic of Self realization. Since the publication of my book, “How to Attain Enlightenment”— currently in its third printing —and the success of this website, the volume of emails has increased considerably. Unfortunately, owing to a busy schedule of teaching and writing, I am no longer able to answer all the emails I receive in a timely fashion. However, my wife, who is also a teacher, and several well-qualified teachers we have endorsed are available to answer emails on my behalf. I encourage you to send them your questions.
