Apply Opposite Thinking
Inquirer: Do you have a self-inquiry you recommend for those moments when the self-thought seems entrenched? It can seem “entitled,” know what I mean?
Daniel: By “self-thoughts” you’re referring to your jiva – i.e. limiting thoughts. Yes, simply apply the opposite thought. But the truth is counter-intuitive, so be prepared to “fake it till ya make it.” By conscientiously applying the thought “I am whole and complete, actionless awareness” your limited identity (jiva-hood) eventually gets kicked to the back seat and your true identity – limitless awareness – comes forth as your primary platform/sense.
It’s simply a matter of deconditioning and reconditioning over and over – and over – until all self-doubts (i.e limiting thoughts) have been burnt up in the fire of self-knowledge. Repetition is key. Keep inquiry simple and consistent; eventually all self-thoughts are replaced by the one Self-thought.
