You Are Deathless
Rye: Daniel, it’s a long time since I’ve written you… you’ve been very present in my thoughts as I dissolve illusions of what I previously believed to be real.
I have been diagnosed with stage IV cancer, this being a confrontation has seemingly opened up a deeper awareness as to who I am not. I look at the night sky and embrace a disappearance from this form (body) as “I” return into the nothing from where I came. The form and ego vanish into the Nothing…
I thought I needed to run this by you, as I haven’t anyone who I know that could hear this.
Today I am at MD Anderson being treated with expensive drugs, as I am being told there isn’t a cure for what I have... I’m thinking of skipping the drugs and treatments, just living out my life and passing on as everyone does.
Thanks for your listening and the open space you provide.
Daniel: Your ability to relax into the truth shines bright and is an inspiration.
Yes, the body comes and goes, but not you, awareness. All forms appear in/to you, the never-changing knower of life.
The disappearance of Rye is just another object known to you, and does change you one bit. You are the awareness of Rye and are already free from him, always have been.
There’s no coming or going for you, awareness. You are unborn and have no end. You are deathless.
Keep the mind focused on your true identity, rest in awareness as awareness and meditate on your deathless nature. Objectify Rye and his story. Lovingly watch him get directed and gladly hand over his story to Isvara.
As the jiva, we are all in the same boat. You are not alone, Rye. We are limited and in decay. It’s just a matter of time. Whether the shedding of the mortal fossil happens now or in another 99 years, does it really matter? No, not at all.
What we think as life is just a thought – a projection – that occurs within our awareness. “Death” is actually just the dissolving of a limited thought (object) that appears in/to you, awareness.
You (awareness) are prior to this thought and will keep shining after this thought. You remain, regardless.
This simple, ordinary and unchanging awareness that knows Rye reading these words (and who also knows Daniel writing these words) is who you are. There is only one you/me. And you are immortal. Claim this identity.
Write to me anytime, I am here for you, dear Self.
Rye: Daniel, I am embracing your response. Thank you for continuing this validation…
No fear… well, I don’t know if that is completely true, but the evaporating of this form and this ego into the empty space from where I came sounds comforting. At peace. Only in the oneness.
Thank you for responding so quickly. I would like to occasionally check in with you as this story advances.
Thank you for sharing and affirming this sacred wisdom.
Daniel: Validation: let this be your one and only task, Rye. Bring the mind’s attention from the changing form (i.e. Rye) and place it on the formless, on your true self.
Exactly! What’s there to fear if you are everything that is? You, awareness, ain’t going anywhere, sir!
Bring the mind to rest in awareness as awareness. “I am unborn and uneneding awareness. I am already free from all apparent forms.” Let this be your mantra.
Allow the mind to relax in this truth and pass all concerns, doubts and stories to Isvara as they arise.
Check in as often as you wish, I am here for you.
~ Love, Dan
Rye: Daniel, Just a note of appreciation for your kindness and reflection here. Your reminders are energetic and clear this mind. Thanks again.... I am grateful.
Daniel: Appreciation is always appreciated, Rye. All my love to you. You are a special guy.
Salutations to Vedanta and all the great teachers of our lineage.
I hope that your jiva’s feeling held in the knowledge as it processes its current prarabdha karma? Continue to apply the teachings and reflect on your true nature as the deathless self that you are. Fear nothing and welcome everything. You, awareness, never stop shining.
