Kundalini and Inner Radiance
Seeker: Hi, Ramji.
I enjoyed reading a conversation on your site re kundalini and Vedanta. You said, “And it is my experience from many years in the spiritual world that most people who have had dramatic kundalini experiences are seduced by them and somehow equate them with enlightenment.”
Although I have had many, many, many kundalini experiences and they have been stunning, I have never equated them with enlightenment, because they didn’t last with the same intensity as they appeared. I feel that they were gifts along the way of my path and I am immensely grateful for them and for the teachers whose teachings helped to induce them.
Love of Consciousness Beyond Measure
When I am in satsang with you, I have a different experience, an inner radiance coming from the vast knowledge that I feel I am breathing in from your teachings. This radiance has stayed with me in a way that shaktipat has not, but they are similar in that both induce an awareness of love/consciousness that is beyond measure.
The major difference is that Vedanta has created a deep desire for more knowledge and for the knowledge of TRUTH. I wasn’t able to surrender to my other teachers or to Isvara in the same way as I have since studying Vedanta. It has freed me and it has created a deep desire to study in a way I have not studied before. (This is saying a lot, as I have multiple and various degrees which required a lot of studying!) Now, unlike past studies, the studying is WORSHIP. I am not doing it to gain yet another degree or prestige or position. I am doing it because I deeply love the Lord and I want to understand the path to freedom.
So this has created a new experience, which created my burning desire to worship the self, but it was not the experience of shaktipat. It was the deep desire for true freedom, which only Vedanta has offered me, through you. I am deeply grateful.
