If you don’t do what’s Right for yourself, you’ll do what’s Wrong

Dear Ramji,

Just wanted to drop a note of appreciation for the teachings. I admit to traipsing around some neo teachers for some time. My grounding in Vedanta is what made them seem reasonable. That is I could appreciate what they were saying due to my solid grounding in Vedanta I got from you. I’m still on the bus. I say nothing cooks your goose like the fire of Self knowledge. That is to say when you look at all the images of yourself and what you’d hoped to do or believe against the knowledge the burning of those delusions is painful, for me anyway. I just watched your videos on the Mundaka Upanishad. I loved it! One line particularly stood out, something to the effect of, if you don’t do what you ought then by default you going to do what you ought not.  I’m paraphrasing of course.  This means to me that if you’re not going for self knowledge then you’re just spinning your wheels or moving away from it since there is no such thing as inaction.

I regret I couldn’t make it to Trout Lake in 2021. I really wanted to go but I just couldn’t swing it this time. I hope you’re going to make it in 2022. Of course with the current state of the world it will be a wonder if any of us does.

Anyway Much Love and appreciation

Lovely to hear from you, Philip!  Appreciation is much appreciated. Yes, the Mundaka is very straightforward.  Life is a zero-sum. I’m not sure what you expect to get from the Neo guys but it’s good to confess your sins.  Maybe you’re just bored?  If you’re lucky you might get half a loaf but mostly it’s a few crumbs.  You’re obviously forgiven. 😀  I’m going to do Trout Lake this year.  It would be great to see you.  Thanks much for the donation.

Love you,

Ramji
