If you have been studying Vedanta for some time, ask yourself,  “Am I the same person today that I was when I began?”  If you say yes, you missed the point because you don’t understand that you are not a person chasing the experience of freedom and non-dual love; you are Existence Shining as Consciousness.  At the same time, if you are the same person, are there spontaneous positive ongoing changes in your personality?  Does every day feel fresh and new?  Be honest.  Be ready to admit that apart from an initial high when you discovered Vedanta a negative personality baseline is still operating.  If it is you haven’t understood the value of spiritual practice, particularly karma yoga, which transforms your mind as it prepares you to accept the fact that you are not a “who,” you are ever-free non-dual Existence shining as Awareness masquerading as a person.
