Description
Inquiry Into Existence
Panchadasi was written in the 14th Century by a great Vedantic sage, Vidyaranya Swami. It is perhaps the most comprehensive and well-organized Vedanta prakarana text, an analysis and discussion of certain famous Upanishad mantras. It is suitable for advanced inquirers. Hearing and studying several other texts – Tattva Bodh, Bhagavad Gita and some Upanishads – prior to immersion in it is recommended. Each chapter is a treatise on a particular topic. Its fifteen chapters are divided into three sections: one on the discrimination between the Self and the objects that present themselves to it, one on nature of enlightenment and its seven stages, and one on the bliss of Existence. Careful independent study is beneficial, but you really need to hear it taught by a competent teacher to gain maximum benefit. To that end ShiningWorld recommends reading it in conjunction with the following 90 hour video/audio series filmed in South India.
