Be Your Own Teacher

Hello Ramji,

This email is long overdue but it took some time to sort out all the reactions that followed our conversations and the teachings at Trout Lake. As time passed it seemed too late and irrelevant but I knew I needed to respond to you.

These past months reminded me of the story of the gods and demons churning the milky ocean and bringing all the crap to the surface. It hasn’t been that bad but I’ll spare you the details. The main thing I want you to know is that Isvara told me exactly what I needed to hear while in Trout Lake and I want to thank you for that. You were correct that you’re not responsible for “saving my life” (as I said) for only I am responsible for that, but since I met you, you’ve been the Light that’s illumined the ignorance and for that I’m forever grateful.

Being my own teacher also meant living my understanding, which of course is synonymous with claiming my identity as Self. Not claiming It and waiting, is like a guy who’s been working on a gigantic jigsaw puzzle for as long as he can remember and when the last piece falls into place and the whole picture is revealed, waits, expecting something to happen . . . for God to appear and tell him he’s done, so he can finally relax and appreciate the fact the puzzle is finished. It’s a matter of Self-confidence and the living understanding that everything is perfect as it is. The giant puzzle picture is simply a mirror. It’s like you’ve always said, the most precious thing is always right here but we don’t see it, or don’t accept the Reality of it. In any case, the main reason for this letter is to thank Isvara for the push and the Love in Trout Lake.

Halleujah, Mike!  I’ve been waiting for this eloquent truthful letter for a long time.  It made my day.  God is great!  Mike is great!  Much love to you both.

Ramji
