The Rough Places Plain

Though Joe is ignorant I have faith all is unfolding properly. As life seemingly goes on, I see discernment processes are now receiving increased attention/resources.

Here’s something to think about, Joe.  Joe needn’t be ignorant.  But he doesn’t need to think that Self knowledge confers a special status.  In fact, it confers the opposite, the status of ordinary awareness.  Ordinary is a dualistic term we use advisedly to point out the fact that if there is only awareness; it is impossible to make a big story about differences.

When you understand Vedanta properly, along with scripture, you can say I know who or what I am, without falling in the special status trap. Vedanta is “normal” yoga.  Seeing oneself as non-different from others is a great blessing.  So keep an eye on the part of the mind that tries to distinguish itself.  Teach it to blend it.  If you stick your head out Isvara will cut it off.  In Handel’s Messiah, it says.  “He makes the rough places plain.”  A spiritual person should have an acute appreciation of this fact.
