I just wanted to send a note to tell you how grateful I am that you have shared Vedanta with this jiva. I am continually inspired by (1) how all doubts are resolved by scripture and (2) how few questions arise in this mind… even when it thinks it is confused. It is like putting the pieces of a puzzle together, i.e. once you put the puzzle together, there is no need to… well, put the puzzle together.
I find the most effective sadhana is to simply remind my jiva that it is in fact perfect as it is… even when it is being stupid. And to simply know I am the non-experiencing, “experiencing” witness. That I am free from all forms and at the same time not separate from them.
When I watch you speaking in the videos, I can see an ocean of stillness and peace and joy behind your eyes. It is like seeing action in non-action and non-action in action. And as I see this, I now know that ocean is my source… it is me. And we are non-different.
I want to thank you again for this past weekend. I found spending time with you to be very powerful. From our brief talks together to focusing on the joyful truth of Vedanta scripture, I could feel every cell of this jiva’s body enlivened, like a pot of water excited with heat.
Your words to me about needing to love even that part of my self that believes I am inadequate were perfect. I need to love all of me, “warts and all,” to fully express my limitless nature and experience the fruits of non-dual self-knowledge. What a gift! Thank you!!
And for the fist time, being with you, I understood that we are the same… equal. I could see that in your reflection I have a bit of tidying up to do in the mind, but in a way that seems quite superficial now. It is clear that our sameness is the main event, and nothing else really matters. As relative jivas we can see apparent relative differences. But as consciousness, I can’t find any differences or separation or lack of love… only anandum. James, I love you as a form and the formless. I love you as the light of all lights, and the blessed dawn ilumining the eternal night.
Thank you for your effortless wisdom and truly kind and compassionate heart. Thank you for showing me the way out of this painful yet fascinating existential conundrum. And thank you for being the most simple yet profound and powerful of all things, a true friend.
