With the help of Swami Dayanda and my Guru, Ramji…

What any one person needs are simple words that show you are acceptable. Words that tell me that there is one person who understands me as I am and that I am acceptable to that person, are very beautiful words indeed. They create a harmonious atmosphere free of duality. This is all anyone wants. No one saves anyone. I don’t learn Vedanta to save people, much less the world. To think I can enlighten a majority and save the world is a delusion. Simply saving myself from my own demise is enough. By doing so, one less problem for the world.

Also, by being a cheerful person, I am not radiating misery to others. Misery and sorrow are contagious. Doors and windows can’t keep it out. It has its own way of traveling, even without a keyhole. So, if there’s one person on earth happy with themselves, that person is doing a great service to the world, simply by not being a sad burden.

You may say you keep your sadness to yourself but this creates additional problems which eventually build up with outbursts of anger and frustration. So don’t try to keep your sadness suppressed, talking about it to someone is definitely better than holding onto it. Then all you can do is save yourself from self-condemnation and your own persecutions. The world certainly does not condemn you. Only your own ignorant self-insulting thoughts. That’s why scripture says you are your own best friend and your own worst enemy. Saving yourself from unnecessary judgments is freedom. And when freedom is there, any discerning pair of eyes with a mind that has some leisure will recognize it. They might ask and wonder how you became so free. If they utter the words ‘please tell me’ maybe a dialogue or satsang opens up.

When it comes to actions, don’t piss away energy in sense pursuits! Why might it be beneficial to heed this sound advice? How many times does Krishna have to say it! Well, by restraining the sense organs, I become more subtle, more powerful and focused. I feel light and high. You attract people who vibrate at that frequency instead of bottom feeders who drain your blood. So I constantly offer my energy to my higher Self. It’s a prayer, investing in my spiritual growth, I feel good about myself, not believing my thoughts and feelings. It’s ok to think and feel things but I come back to what’s present and doesn’t change. Transactions are a jumble, a mixture. I’m the silent watcher. Why are you so invested in the world anyways?
